DP has upgraded to version 4. apparently they are doing fine, shawn could tell better.

vb team seem to was rushing this release. so many new things, its bound to have bugs. but yeah eventually most of us have to adopt it anyways:)

I upgraded to vB4 mainly because I write the custom stuff we use here and I didn't want to keep writing new stuff for 3.x, knowing I would have to rewrite it later for 4.x. So instead I just sat down and rewrote the few hundred plug-ins we use for 4.0 and upgraded. That's why there really wasn't many new features added to this forum in the 3 or so months before the upgrade to 4.0. Most the time was spent on getting everything ready for 4.0 as well as not wanting to implement completely new stuff that would need to be rewritten down the road.

If you rely on other people's add-ons, templates, etc. use the version they are written for. If everything you need is ready to go for 4.0, I would go with 4.0.

So you wouldn't let the search problems and ongoing templating issues for mods put you off? I had a client asking me the other day and I said "wait a bit longer". I could see a budget blowout for him.

I used SMF up until I bought vb4. I like it so far, and I've only have a few tiny hiccups. These posts make me want to try 3.8 :(
