Hi, I just want to know what you think about this options in domain reselling business model. 1. Selling a top level domain as a stand alone commodity 2. Adding something like a content site to the domain before selling 3. Installing a fully functional themed blog on the domain before selling Assuming you are the buyer, which of these 3 would you go for? And if you're the seller, which option would you like to pursue or work on?
Unless you have a good generic keyword domain the sale price won't be high. Installing a fully functional blog with indexed pages and maybe showing some traffic and revenue with unique content will definitely fetch a good price.
Thanks Chenzen, Your comment has definitely thrown in some bright light. Like how many indexed pages do you think will make the blog value 'spin' and how many pages of unique contents do you think will be the minimum to be seen as valuable. And what do you think about syndicated youtube videos pages if added as a face lift to the site?
Option #2 would have the most appeal for most of the buyers you would encounter because a lot of people tend to thing of blogs as potentially more spammy and websites as potentially more valuable.
That is sooooo not true. Yes, there are a ton of MFA blogs out there, many in some of the sig links around here, but "people" don't think of blogs as a whole as "spammy". Good content, design, and revenue are universal and it doesn't matter what type of platform it's on, as long as it's not a free hosted blog. Surprised that you would say that since the site in your sig is run on Word Press.
That is the key. MOST of the blogs that are considered spammy are the ones that are free hosted blogs which unfortunately is a pretty high percentage of the total. Wordpress is most commonly thought of as blogging software but as you can see from the site in my sig it can also be used as a CMS if you use a custom theme with a few tweaks.
The third option is the best one..its just that you aim should be to increase the number of visitors you get rather than how your blog looks like..
