    • Tools such as http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ will generate a sitemap.xml. That is the recommended one to submit to Google Webmaster Tools and to Yahoo! Site Explorer.

    • Do not submit your html sitemap. Simply publish it on your website on its own separate Sitemap page, be sure it is properly linked to in your internal linking, and the search engines will pick it up in their normal crawling of your site.

You can have a separate sitemap.html for visitors.

You're welcome. Also, if you haven't yet done this, sign up for a free account in Yahoo Site Explorer and submit your sitemap.xml there, too. I find that Yahoo! is quicker to index than Google is, and I have to suspect that the sitemap.xml is helping with that quick Yahoo! indexing.
