I have tried pretty much two different adsense approaches and since I didn't get the results I thought I would I gave up on one of them. However I have learnt why they weren't as successful as I thought they would be and now they have been "active" long enough to get some nice stats to pick one and carry it on. first method is picking very low competitiveness niche to very quickly and easily rank high; side affects almost always very low paying. 2nd is high competitiveness niche with very high payouts, side effects very difficult or even almost impossible to get high rankings, takes a lot of time and effort for potentially nothing.

now my first method 1 content site took a day to make was about 16 pages in size and every single one of them ranked on the first page of google within two weeks with no off site seo what so ever. I get 5k a month visits but the ctr is low and so is the payout but after 100 sites theoretically I could be making a good part time or bad full time income. I could also play about with ad placement to get a higher ctr.

My second method was to go for a highly competitive higher paying niche. I built a site with about the same amount of pages and as expected it was going to be very difficult to rank high and in fact I have not got a single page on number one of google. I spent about 3 months on the site promoting it until I eventually got bored of it and didnt want to put any more backlinking work into it as i felt it was doing no good. Since I never broke into the good rankings I made much less than the site that only took me a day to make.

In conclusion I therefore feel it will be more profitable and better for me personally to go for the quick low paying high amount method. I can work long hours when I get results, like quick results but hate slogging out for little to no results.Your Thoughts?

If you enjoy having 100 sites and have a system to manage them easily, then go for the first route, since it will be better for you if you want to also promote CPA networks to make some commissions on sales..

But personally I've found that having too many (more than a dozen) sites is not going to work for me. So I chose the big sites way, yes it takes more time to get it off the ground, but eventually they take off. As for the content on them, I'm not going to do it myself, simply not possible to keep my worktime/money ratio low. So there are a few options left: automated content or user generated content or a combinaison of both.
