Some would argue that wordpress.com is the best 3rd party hosted blog site. But, you also have to remember that Google owns blogger so that has to be considered too. No reason you cannot use both.

Because I use both on a regular basis I think I have a good perception of the best blogging site and to me that would be wordpress!

Wordpress is the best blogging platform to me because it is extremely user friendly. If you host the blog yourself then its even better.. for SEO purposes wordpress brings you the best a latest plugins to help you with ALL your SEO needs.

Even though Google owns blogger I must say that wordpress is a far better application and all you need to do is host the blog yourself and more resources become available to you.

I use both because Google instantly recognizes my blogger blog and the links from it hold weight.. but my wordpress blog ranks well in the serps.. but I just use a combination of both and it seems to workout well.

Completely agree with ilexx. I prefer Wordpress to Blogger, but as he says Blogger posts are picked up quickly by Google.

Are we talking about free blog hosting solutions? Then Blogspot & WordPress are your choice.
However I would suggest you to invest in proper hosting like:

    http://www.hostgator.com/ - cheap, fast, reliable
http://www.seohosting.com/ - not so cheap but great for SEO purposes (especially if you run 5-10-20 sites, etc.)

I have been using siteground.com hosting for more than a year. I have more than 30 websites and blogs hosted there and everythink works well.

eek, some people are giving you some bad advice. Your best opportunity to succeed and generate money from your website would be to get web hosting from any company (Hostgator, my company, or others... there's tons out there). From then, download Wordpress, install it, and go from there. You should steer clear, in my opinion, of blogger, blogspot, and the likes if you want to make a good income later on.

I personally prefer wordpress based on my experience. Very fast crawl rates and decent traffic from tags

Blogger.com - Hands down: But if you really want to get into blogging just buy a domain and hosting and put Wordpress in it, Install All in One seo package plug in and you're set.

It doesn't matter to me. Do what I do and use Weebly.com,wordpress.com,and Blogger.com. You can copy and paste, seeing that the content all belongs to you, making it perfectly legal. Then when you do so, you will be reaching royal subjects of all three websites. I don't know how to use Adsense for Wordpress though, but I use it to draw traffic to Blogger and Weebly because they support Adsense

Blogger and wordpress are the two most common blogging platform. Blogging site doesn't matter at all. Why? because this is not all about the blog hosting rather on the way you optimize for your blog to receive tons of traffic and achieve high PR
