    I gave using pbpBB coz I can't figure out how to add adsense into it. Now I'm fully Joomla and Wordpress.

    What's you intend to do? a forum or a portal? For forum VBulletin is the best - one that this forum uses.

    Maybe you would have better luck asking on their respective support forums ;)

    As for phpbb it's just a matter of adding the code in the templates or they might have plugins for it.. Back when I used phpbb, they didn't have products and plugins.

    you can try myBB which is similar to Vbulletin but it is free to download

    and also it has a lot of add-ons

    I personally don't like PHPbb2 because of poor design :) but phpbb3 is great in terms of designs and features. you can find lots of web 2.0 designs for phpbb3 totally for free. SMF is another great forum script. you can integrate adsense adds or any adds using the pluggins found on smf site. so both script were great. but if your site is going to be very big I suggest you to go on paid script like Vbulletin or IPB
