Hello, I come to the point where I have to choose between the following web host companies: 1. HostGator 2. Powweb 3. 1and1 4. Lunarpages All of them have great plans, but I am also looking for reliability as I am about to register for a 1-year plan. My previous host was DreamHost. I had no problems with them and they were good, but the price became a little too steep for me. Which of the 4 would you recommend, pros and cons? Thanks in advance.
stay away from 1and1 lol...too many friends that complain about it, the only one i have thorough exp with is hostgator so you can go for that i guess... but if you want cheaper hosting you can contact me or check my sig don't mean to steal you away from them, but in the end, the decision is yours good luck!
I've used hostgator and 1and1, both were pretty good. I'm with 1and1 at the minute and I have no complaints. If you get a dedicated server / VPS from them you will be able to contact the server support for your technical queries who seem a lot more clued up than most support departments when it comes to the technical aspect. So in short, if you want a dedicated server / vps then 1and1 are very good. If you're after shared hosting then hostgator might be your best bet. I dont have any experience with the other two.
powweb, hands down i use them currently altho i am now moving to VPS but thier shared hosting allowed me to host 400 active blogs lol and there really cheap! (what could be better?) they use thier own type of control pannel but its really good and very easy to use. Thier live chat is great also feel free to me to use my refferal link XD
iweb is good too, and singlehop is good too, one of my site is currently on singlehop, and they accept paypal too...
I've been with Host Gator since Feb 2007 and am happy for the most part, sometimes ( 1- 2 times a month) my sites may be a little slow to load but most of the time it is very fast, I've never had any of my sites go down that I know of. The only cons I have is there is no webDAV and they won't enable resolve ip's in Awstats.
The Lunarpages shared plan I have has been great. I've been with them for about a year and a half now with 13 sites on my plan. The few issues I've had they have taken care with no problem.
