Oh yea, free pr0n, definitely. And free online games is a really big one too. You'd actually be surprised at the gaming keywords that are easy to rank for, have low competition. I found a really good one for one of my CPA sites last month. Like 9,000 Phrase searches/month US. I was so surprised. So, try the free gaming niche if you dont' want to go adult. Just be warned you'll have a heck of a time ranking for most keywords.
Yeah porn has gotta be right up there. Hard to say what would be #1 though since there is just soo much stuff that gets searched every single day.

Well you are starting on the wrong foot then... these days to stay competitive and even stay within Google (without a penalty) you must be passionate, provide knowledgeable articles & content... Google no longer supports fluff and run of the mill web sites, you need quality and you need to know what you are on about... if you are not contributing to your niche in a positive fashion - then don't even bother.
make use of google adwords keyword tool. That will give you idea which niches are popular in google search.
Go for Technology niche as I did. You will build your name and don't loose your status starting a bad business. You may think your site will not generate money first, but trust me, Tech is updating minute by minute, so no tension of searching and writing articles and it can easily let you make money......
as mentioned, the most searched has to be something to do with sex, porn or similar. I would think gambling is a big one too. but mainly educational/entertainment purposes
