Hello, gurus! I'm sure this has been brought up, but I can't seem to find it. When I do a link exchange with someone whose site content is relevant to mine, which is more important - the PR of their homepage or the PR of the links page that they will list me on? Thanks for reading!
Link exchange as a form of SEO is discouraged, if you still want to go ahead, get a backlink from page that gets a lot of visitors. In any case PR of the page linking to you is most important.
based on what you say link exchange is discouraged ? if you don't know what you talking about, best is not to talk.
PR of the page where you will get link is more important than the PR of the home page. And I also didn't get what is meant by "link exchange is discouraged", what I know is everybody does it for seo....
If you want to make your website high PR then you should check the PR of the page you are linking to. If you want to get traffic, then have a link on that page which is getting more visitors.
Thanks for all the great responses, guys! This certainly points me in the right direction. Any alternate theories are appreciated as well.
I beleive it is pr of linking page. Pr of home page is - sort of - important as it (and the number of other links on the home page) influences how much link juice there is to pass to the linking page.
You should follow what you preach. Have you tried building a site's links with reciprocals lately and observed SERP changes? Have you compared the difference if you got one way links rather than reciprocals? If not shut your mouth and stop telling others they don't know what they are talking about.
you are just a google fan boy that does what they tell you. and believes to everything they say, so go ahead and keep following them webmaster guidelines. but if you really want to learn check the links of any major ddl/warez site. you going to find that all of them do link exchanges with great results, myself included.
Link exchanging is against Google' webmater guidelines and when they catch on that you are exchanging links in an effort to manipulate your search ranking, your website will be penalized or de-indexed Link exchanging leaves a huge footprint that Google can detect Read their guidelines here I have been testing various linking strategies for several years now and I can attest to the fact that link exchaging is a dangerous game, I would NEVER do it on a site that I care about... TOO RISKY The best strategy by far is to acquire relevant one way "Do-Follow" links... This I know from several years of testing!
