Which major blog host is best for this purpose?

I want to create a blog solely for the purpose of supporting one of my main websites. The basic idea is to create relevant links from the blog to the main site.

The blog doesn't need to get any traffic, and I don't intend to put any ads of my own on it. In other words, I don't care at all about revenue or traffic. That's of absolutely no importance to me. All I care about is getting the links.

What I need is a free blog host that will allow me to create the blog, and won't delete it because of low traffic, or because of long periods of time between updates.

I've been looking at Tumblir.com and Wordpress.com as possibilities. Can someone tell me if either of these would be suitable for my purpose?
Also, can someone recommend other possible blog hosts that would be suitable?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the replies.

I've decided to try Wordpress.com. After looking at the site, it appears pretty easy to set up a blog there. I've already got at least a year's worth of post content written, so most of the real work is already done.

I did see a note on their site that they are always on the lookout for spammers, but I'm pretty sure I can make a blog that looks legitimate.

So thanks again for the replies.

Did you say that you want to support your main website which already had a domain name like xxx.com? Well, you can proceed by having a self-hosted Wordpress blog at a sub-domain like xxx.com/blog.

I already have a blog incorporated into the website. This new blog is for a different purpose.
