I'm no SEO expert, but having more information on the first page is probably good right?

As far as my thoughts on actual usability go, though:

At first, I thought I liked the first one. The reason was because it seemed cleaner and not as cluttered. But after viewing both of them for a little longer, I started to prefer the functionality of the second one.

So, at first glance - First
If I was a frequent user of the site - Second

I think if you cleaned up the second layout a little, it would easily be the best. If the article feed all looked the same (for example, article post had a single image and all of the images were the same dimensions) then it would be much nicer. How it is now, though, with some articles not having a picture (e.g. "Show ModalPopUp to Edit Asp.net...") and some having a smaller picture than others ("What’s New in ASP.NET MVC 4").

Also, if there were a little more 'space' between the columns and rows it might help some. Without much of the grey background to break it up, it looks like a giant wall of text which is aesthetically unappealing to me.

On the first page, 'sponsors' is spelled incorrectly. And is it really necessary to have a box dedicated to traffic information? Looks tacky.
