Which keywords should I use for my blog?

I've been using DP's keyword searching tools and I haven't had much luck.

I want to find the best words to use for my blog title, which will consist primarily of Making money off forums, video games and life.

But I don't think my name, followed by that phrase will work well. Any tips? Perhaps I need to find a better tool. Does Google have any good tools I must have missed? I'm really new to SEO.

Choose whatever matches your content. "Make money online" would be good.

forums, video games, and life is a very broad topic range. Finding specific keywords to cover all of that will be difficult...perhaps impossible. You may want to consider narrowing your topic.

Thats what made me think of it. :)

To be honest you can choose whatever keywords you like. It will take at least 12-18 months before you rank for them on Google and thats assuming you get a LOT of good links.

I'm far from an expert so I hesitate to throw anything out there but it's pretty important from what I understand to 1. Choose keywords that are pertinent to your site and that interest you and 2. To make sure your focus is narrow. The second item is something I noted from personal experience.

Unless you plan to make a living online (it's harder than the infomecials claim) just start writing for a few weeks - you'll get a good feeling for what your interests tend to be. Once you have a feeling, just focus on writing good content about your topic - the keywords will just fall out. Once you have a few that you seem to use a lot then use some of the tools listed above to see what else is related to those keywords. Take your time and develop a rythem and a style first. As stated above, it's going to take quite some time to rank anyway, a month of playing and getting the feel won't hurt.

Once you have a couple of keywords, check out this free tool to track them: RankTrend.com

    best of luck.

I Agree, Use the keywords related to your content.

Usually, I started to target a keywords before putting content because I create my content using my targeted keywords. I also put keywords in my domain.

make the keyword as targeted as possible. Your blog isn't going to get any great placements unless you really start getting the social bookmarks and links + traffic out there.

By keeping the keyword as targeted as possible ( i mean like the exact keywords of a profit, so you are only getting people looking for the exact thing you are offering). To try and just put up a blog about SEO is tough especailly to start it from scratch. So keep it on a low traffic, but high profit, highly targeted keyword.

    Use "long tail keywords"

There has been posts by experts that give examples of keyword phrases
that have up to 4/5 words in the key phrase. Especially for very competitive words.

    I have to agree.

    "Make money" is too broad.

    how to make money fast

    best way to make money

best way to make money online...etc.
