The whole world is facing massive economic slowdown that could turn into a super-recession. As countries attempt to fix their economies, there would be great competition to claim the remaining scarce resources. With 7 Billion people in the world, this competition for controlling resources could turn ugly. There will be increasing friction between nation-states. We will see huge shortages of essential commodities in the coming years. I suspect this could lead to rise in right-wing nationalism and religious fervor in many countries. Protectionism would follow. There will be angry people on the streets looking for scapegoats, and politicians would do the needful, as we have seen throughout history. For example, in the US, first they will blame outsourcing, then its Latino (illegal) immigrants, then all immigrants, then blacks, then other minorities. Similar situations could arise in many other countries. So, I'd like to ask you all, what, in your opinions, is the safest country to live in, especially if you're not a part of the majority? From what I have read, the safest place is New Zealand. The main reason for this is 1. Very small population 2. Vast open, fertile land 3. Plenty of rainfall 4. Highly developed Medical infrastructure 5. Liberal mindset of the population What do you think? P.S. The article Rethinking the Rust Belt is well worth reading.
Not enough cropland. Labrador Canada is where you will be the safest. The population of Labrador is 26,364. Labrador’s area has a land area of 269,073.3 km² (103,895.5 sq mi)approximately the size of New Zealand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labrador
The thing is, outsourcing really didn't do our economy any good. Thats jobs lost. Not all latino immigrants are illegal. And not all illegal immigrants are latino. That is a baseless argument you have there, and it is something most American understand. That also hurt our economy, as people were paying them low wages, or buying them a case of beer, to come work for them. Whereas a natural born American can't even find a job no matter where they look (minus San Antonio, there are help wanted signs up all over). The other things you say we blame this on, is ludicrous. Although, I know there are some people that believe that, sadly.
