I am not aware of a tool that would exactly give me the traffic of my competition unless it is a huge site. If it is a huge site, Quantcast or Google Planner are things that you could test out. However, to get some information about your competition as far as their SEO is concerned, Traffic Travis could be used.

You can also analyze your competitor through alexa. On alexa you can check your competitor back-links which one he is targeting and which one can help you to rank well on search engines.

1) Best Way for Competitor Analysis : i) Search your target keywords in Google. ii) Mark your Competitors. iii) Analyse their off-page work through a Backlink Analysis tool. iv) Do On-page analysis also.[Keywords Density, Meta tags, Keyword Placing Etc.] NOTE : Don't copy any On-page Static content to your sites. 2) Competitor Web traffic Analysis : Select the keywords of your competitor sites . Check the keywords status on Google Adwords Tool . Using this particular tool You will get Global and Local Search volume of that keywords. Now if your competitor site is in top 10 in Google and using a good Search volume keyword , you can get a approximate idea about the Traffic.
Hi, You can try alexa.com to check with the traffic stats, search traffic, audience, and so on of any of your competitors site. Apart from this, to check with the backlinks, you can move on with the Opensite Explorer (from SEO Moz), Majestic SEO, etc. These two works out fine, but its been limited in displaying the number of backlinks. So to access a complete set of backlinks of any of the websites, you're in to upgrade the account. Only this would be the possibility. Using backlinkwatch, doesn't prompt to give you the better results and the links count is drastically limited. So, it'd be better to move with the above mentioned online tools, rather the latter.
That was a very nice explanation. I just want to add one tool that I use to find the competitors backlinks is the SEO Spyglass. I use only the free version. The paid gives more info but for the moment the free is OK for me.
