I have awstats and it seems ok for me, google analytic is better though, but it increases loading time of the page and I simply don't want google to know who is visiting my site. Unless the pay me for this marketing data.

Hi Procrastinator - just to let you know StatCounter gives you LIFETIME summary stats (not limited to last 100) and for the in-depth visitor detail stats there are upgrades available as well!

Awstats is really good since you can get a complete information that will help you optimize your site for more traffic. You can completely track where traffic is coming from and how many visitors are coming to your site and what hours they are on.

I am completely addicted to sitemeter. I love the latest addition that analyses the way people visit my site (what pages they go through, not only entrance and exit). I believe it is a feature for paying customers. It is sooo worth it!

and no one is worried about using analytics and giving Google data that they can use to change their algorhythm to make it harder for sites like yours to rank, thus making you use adwords? Like what happens around October every year. Remember they are a FOR profit company...
