You can go deeper into google by using : "google insights for search", this shows you words that are HOT right now relating to the keywords you are researching.
Lots of other great stats there too.

You could also try viewing the bottom of the page in google when you type in the keyword to the search engine, this shows you common phrases people are searching for relating to your keyword.

The same for Yahoo , when you type in the search term it brings up lots of related searches.

    keywordindex.com

    hope that helps a little

If you don't mind paying for a keyword tool Market Samurai is the most well rounded software available in my opinion. It will do everything but wash your dishes. There's a little bit of a learning curve but they have great training videos.

Why would you want to use anything outside of google itself. Remember google is where the stats are coming from and they have more access then anyone.

Now if you want to pay money and get it done quick then yes, some tools are very good. But at the end of the day you need to not make it so complicated. Just think about what your trying to do and view the result you get just from a organic search.

here is a example: in the post above jon2010 has a link to keyword index.

I wanted to see how off it was, if so. And all I have to say about it WOW. Off by one zillion miles. The search I enter for search didn't even show up (actual google results were 634000 per month). If you were to take that for your answer you might just loose out on some big cash.

All I can say is that there is "NO ONE", "NO SOFTWARE" or anything that is going to give you more then Google itself.

Work for it and it will pay huge as you learn

    Hope this helps

The best keyword research tool is Market Samurai, nothing else even comes close. I own Market Samurai, Micro Niche Finder, and Niche Research Commando and Market Samurai the clear winner. They are currently running a FREE trial version right now (since it's still beta).

The great thing is that it actually uses Google as the search tool except does all the things you would do manually, automatically in seconds. Just don't go overboard or Google will think you are spamming. Sometimes if you research TOO quickly google will ask for a captcha.

Anyways, get your FREE version of Market Samurai and watch their videos. I've learned a lot about Internet Marketing and Keyword Research by just watching their free videos.

Google Adwords keyword tool is probably the best, but you should beware that the numbers will not reflect the exact number of visitors you will receive.

It reflects the number of impressions for each keyword. So every time someone searches for a keyword and clicks their way through the top 10 results. that counts as 10 impressions.

I prefer micro Niche Finder over Market Samurai. It's faster on my machine and has some nifty features that MS is lacking. I can do my KW research way faster with MNF. I have both as well as Traffic Travis and a couple of others. I've also used Theme Zooms tools, wordtracker and nichebot x. I would get a refund on MS if I could, but I would never give up MNF.
