I use Ahrefs (it has the most comprehensive backlinks) and you can also see quickly from the anchor cloud whether the domain is spammed. I combine this with archive.net or screenshots.com to see if there is any spam. Majestic would be my 2nd choice for backlinks and anchor text checking.

Hayden from nohat also has a good video and article on spam checking.

    A couple of choices:

    1. Expireddomains - The advantage is you can filter based on good metrics but you still have to wade through a bunch of junk

    2. Domainpeel - Not as many to choose from but they do the spam checking for you

Thanks for the mention :) Yes DomainPeel.com has a good selection of expired domains. And we take the hassle out of spam checking the domains for you :) Excellent metrics of DA and PAs of 25 +

My favorite would be ExpiredDomains.net as they have great filters and are completely free. Just login, click the Marketplace Domains tab at the top - then click the Pending Delete tab. You can now see all of the domains set to delete in the upcoming days. There is even a red 'show filter' link at the top you can use to filter by drop date, extension, DA/PA..etc. That just covers finding them, though. I prefer to use DesktopCatcher for actually catching them upon dropping!

There are a few websites where you can find expired and expiring domains with great metrics. You may want to have a look at -
    https://www.domcop.com
    moonsy.com/expired_domains/
    www.expireddomains.net/
