    I'm thinking the second one. When someone is using a search engine, odds are they will use phrases like 'california motels', 'motels in california', 'cheap motels in california', etc.

    Motels is the best Motel just does sound as good. Makes you sound like you only have 1 hotel to list.

    Take both
    Use the plural as a directory and sell the singular to a California Motel :)

    It depends and what you want it for? If you have your own motel then "CaliforniaMotel.com" but if you are making anything else then CaliforniaMotels.com would be my first choice.
