    Interesting suggestions. Haven’t tried a lot of the software being brought up but I’m sure they are all pretty useful 3D design tools.

    For free software use Blender, but if you really want to go for a professional touch then go for Cinema 4d. But the program is really expensive so stay away unless you have money.

    If you consider animating 3d logo on the website check Esquimo ( here are some 3d text examples ). It doesn't have rich tools to make one but you can import any 3ds mesh made in software as Blender, LW, Max or similars and easy animate it and publish as SWF. When you have got SWF, placing it on the website is a piece of cake. However animating logo over some content (not solid background color) will require earlier version (1.2) which supports transparency.     If you want to create a real 3d logo go with Autodesk Maya. Using their Mental Ray render, boy the quality of that is the best thing out there. If you want to do a simple but professional one without much trouble I recommend 3Ds Max. Easy to use, good output quality.

    Hi there, 3D Invigorator is great for people who don't have access to a 3D program. I tried it and it's really good, but the render time is huge, so I still use 3D Studio Max for this kind of effect because of the render time (incredible smaller) and the animation tools (incredible easier and faster).
    But 3D Invigorator is also very good and the best option for those who only use After Effects...
