    You don't have to choose between the both of them. They are both extremely important to a web presence. SEO sgould be done first becuase it takes aspects of that website and makes it more efficient to navigate and index. Sem comes later and it consists of strategies that are used which are meant to promote awareness and get relevant traffic on your website.

    It much depends up to your needs! SEM provide instant promotion for your demands whereas SEO is a long-term process that takes time and remains permanent due to organic nature

    Important for what? Promoting your site can be done in both ways, the difference is that SEO is somehow permanent and needs no constant invest, but is slower than SEM.

    There's no comparison that has to be done with those two. You can do both and produce great outcomes. So comparing SEO and SEM would be a waste of time.

    Sem is better than seo because sem is very broad term it includes everything i. e. PPC, paid inclusion, advertisement. So sem is more traffic driven than seo.

    2. In the case of sites that promote a business (or are a business), increase profits. SEO, therefore, would be a subset of SEM. SEO is the process of improving the visibility.

    I prefer SEO, but SEO is quite difficult. SEM is expensive and I haven't had success with it.

    The comparison is nor fair from my point of view, because, SEM is a macro concept having SEO as a subordinate part. SEO is limited to search engines, and SEM covers other aspects like web 2.0, ppc and other type of advertising.
