I know a little about programming languages like Java, Vb and HTML. I want to know that which RDBMS would be good for me.

Java works well with MySQL and MSSQL. For VB, probably MSSQL. If you plan on developin gon Linux platforms, then I would go with MySQL. If you develop mainly on Windows or plan on using ASP, or another windows specific language or framework, I would go with MSSQL.

    Or PostgreSQL :)
I would go with the RDBMS you can afford and the one your friends use so you can easily ask them for help in case of problems / trouble.

I have used MSSQL more. It's easier to use because of the GUI and the number community portals around it... I am also running a poll here about RDBMS usage. See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1154661. You're all invited to participate.

Nothing is better then Oracle. Most of Gian organization is using oracle only... it has vast features... We had implemeneted for 10 Tera byte data.. and it worked fine.

Not everyone has a million dollar IT budget for Oracle. Here's a good argument for open source. For a single server with 2 4-core processors, Oracle runs about $100K just in the initial license cost.

Partially true. Yes, Oracle is expensive, but it's not $100K ... I'm working as a .NET Developer on Company which recently bought Oracle License.. it was 30K for very large purposes and projects.

I also recommend everyone of you to learn Oracle or MS SQL. This two ORDBMS are the best and most professional.

I said ORDBMS because These are not Relational Database Management Systems but OBJECT Relational Database Management Systems... :) I like working on both of these (Oracle & MS SQL) ... I'm also on Master studies with Database Management Specialization .. so we are doing labs mostly in Oracle AND/OR MS SQL.
