For web development, you should go for javarscript,PHP and HTML For desktop development, C# or VB.net
C language is one of the best programing language. It is the basic language that all programmer first learn for improving their logical skill. Also it is one which can introduce all the basic fundamentals regarding the programming.
I'm trying to learn how to program and I'm teaching myself C++. I found a website that helped me with a compiler and tutorial but I'm having a lot of issues understanding it the way it is written. Do you guys have any good suggestions for free tutorial sites? Also, are there big differences between compilers?
Well their are many language i guess you should choose the one you like, i prefer PHP as i do work for web developement, if for desktop don't know
As i have gone through the post i have learned some new word like "for desktop" but as of my knowledge no language is designed only for desktop. But let come to the point as the best programming language to get started is C no doubt as its the mother of all programming language. All other programming language all upgraded version of it. C is just like Alphabets in English. C is much simpler then of other and if you are familiar with C then you can learn all other language in no time.
I'd say Yes, I'd also suggest that. Rather I would like to little modify it by recommending, start the ABC with C. It will help to build up the basic concepts. Then move onto Java. (Though personally I started programming in VB 6, back 7-8 years ago. In my computer science engineering I slowly discovered that there's nothing like C after when I already knew 7-8 languages by then, I realized C is rather much preferred for electronics engineers because of this hardware programming thing.)
i think first off all you guys must learn about the c++ then you guys easily learn java which is mostly running today and one of the most best programing language ..try it
Why are you writing them down? I read the thread, picked a language, and started. PHP - about four hours ago. Mostly because I want to do web development. I have a project at NE1UP that I'm working on, and many of the solutions I've looked at for a service there are built on PHP. Second place would be Java. Anyway. It's my first dip into programming but I need to be able to build what I'm dreaming, so... Here goes. Thanks for all the input to everyone who contributed to this thread, it was a great help and source of motivation.
but i go with php and java.....because of its wide popularity and usage i think may or may be not i am right
before you start any language ask yourself why because if u want develop for website that mean u want learn php or maybe u want to develop desktop program that mean u want .net for example.
