Hi friends, I m planning to start my own first web directory. But i am not sure which niche to choose? can you please help me?
1. What do you like? 2. What do you understand well? 3. What can you work on quite content without getting bored? 4. What other niches have you worked on before? 5. Are you looking for a niche to make money or just for pleasure?
I am planning my first ever directory so i dont have any past experience i m yet to decide niche. I just wanna know which niche is popular and yes i want to make money like everyone else
You can try chemistry or other type science directory if yu are familiar with something. I know chemistry ads from Adsense have high clicks values. Another cool idea is to start specific type of music directory, where you can feature bands too. There are tons of other niches with low or no competition-do a research.
Its really best if you can find what is best for you, i would worry more about how your going to promote it. But good luck to you.
As most here have said if your thinking of a niche go with one you know something about - only you know what that is
i m myself dir. submission service provider so i know ways to promote it including directory submissions. Just want to decide on niche first.
like pipes said, do something you like. i have several sites with that are not niches that i like, and they suck
The other thing you have to be wary of is people throwing you off the scent - nobody with a successful directory in a particular niche is going to tell you to start a new directory in their niche. And I mean nobody
Yeah, like others have said, do what you like. I have also few dog niche sites, I don't like dogs, and I have zero interest in them, and I must say, that the site looks like a real dog pile. Hmmm... a music directory sounds interesting.
Pretty much says it all. But this isn't just about what this guy likes, it's about what users and advertisers will like, since they are the ones who will use this new site. I wouldn't suggest doing anything on the web for money - it will fail if that's all you have in mind for it. People will not simply part with their cash just because you have built a directory. Any new web venture must : Solve a problem Be unique Do things that others cannot Offer a service that others don't Have content beyond everyone else It must be totally original to ensure success, no point in going to all this effort if it's not going to capture attention. Just be sure you are aware of what you're about to undertake - many aren't and fail as a result.
Any business venture needs these things. When potential web directory owners recognize this then they'll start to make money.
If you took away the need to make money and asked yourself, if i could do anything i liked, what would it be ? Find your passion, then do it well, follow the advice given above and the money will follow as a result.
Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Personally if i have the choice to do something not that enjoyable but it pays well il go for that anyday. Because with that money earned i can go and spend it and be happy. Not all passions pay well either.
