Wordtracker is also a great tool as it parses out the correct word order and plurality - wordtracker.com/database/frames/loadframes.php

t3ch, what do you mean or refers about? Wordtracker? If yes, fill your name and email, then get the trial links in your email inbox.

Wordtracker is the best one. :)

    "WordTracker sucks the big one..."

And to follow up that ambiguous comment:
If you are looking at a scientific approach to key term marketing, you're going to need a good percentage of the market to find a trend.
You own a bakershop. You want to know how popular cream cakes are... You wouldn't ask the opinion of only those people who bought cream cakes, would you?
    Agreed?

Ok, lets pretend you don't agree. I want to know how many people use the word "TOMMY K" when searching for tomato ketchup. So I use Wordtracker to find out. All very obvious, because, as mylifejr so righteously pointed out, Wordtracker is the best. BUT when you look at the blurb in Wordtracker it tells you that it takes data from none other than the oft used and frequently considered top of the pile.... DOGPILE. Then it, WT, filters those results.

So compare MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE, a very English phrase, and CLINICAL NEGLIGENCE, a lawyer and US term. Look - Clin Neg get many more results in WT, but as they do not geotarget and take their results from a short tail search engine these rusults cannot be trusted - even though they might be correct.
Now go and do some proper research - lets say like asking actual people actual questions... and giving them a pc and getting them to search for something. Med Neg comes up top every time. This is because the word clinic means something very different in the UK. WOW.

Taking this as read... Lets say I want to freak out the results of WordTracker... I know that SEOs use WT. I know that WT uses Dogpile. I know that dogpile has a small user base.
So, I go to dogpile and set my testing software, testdirector or anything like that, and get it to search on whatever I want. Lets say it does one search every 5 seconds. Lets say I am searching for "cream cakes" and "cream cake" related topics. These results will vastly change the Wordtracker results set.
DP's keywords is a bit better, and is easier to 'get'.

When Google either dies a death or creates a keyword tracker, then we'll see.

The problem as I see it, is that no matter how great your product, you put trash in, you're going to get trash out.

Thanks for the various suggestions everyone, a few i didn't know of, and im glad to see an honest opinion on wordtracker, a few people dont really recommend it, and the price for the full access took my breath a little when i checked.

Give Google suggest and google trends a try. Yahoo overture also gives you very good idea. If you are planning on spending some money then you can alexa webmembership program as well.
