Agreed, I also favor Magento. You might also want to take a look at OsCommerce it's another good one.
I like also PrestaShop. Much better than Magento I think. It is easy to maintain and very easy to use also. osCommerce - to old and no updates for long time. ZenCart - they have plan rewrite the code - but nobody has seen this new version. But at least ZenCart is maintained and You are getting new updates also. Around Year ago I wrote this post: http://prestaportal.com/thread-68.html And also I have small list of cart softwares here: http://freesoftnews.com/archives/9611 And OSTATIC has small list here: http://ostatic.com/blog/five-great-open-source-shopping-cart-systems-for-ecommerce
Does anyone "make do" with online all-in-one e-commerce tools, say for developing a smaller site, or do you always code with offline software then upload the whole thing? Just curious ...
Magento commerce and zcart are best ecommerce sites, lot of people are working on this and earning a hell lot...
If you considering paid ecommerce software I think Interspire Shopping cart is the best. They have the hosting version and the installed version. However, their price is very high.
Vendio is free - including all images & hosting. I'd really love it if some of you could test it out and tell me your thoughts.
