I always used VM before, but since moving across to Joomla 2.5, I've changed to JoomShopping - primarily because the Checkout section is much cleaner for the end-user..... VM is way too lonog-winded and untidy (although there are paid extensions which offer 1-page checkout for VM, not used any of them yet though).
Virtuemart templates are the best option for setting Joomla Ecommerce website. The options include the customization of a Joomla shopping cart, integration of sales products with current content, the ability to sell downloadable content and a static catalogue mode where no shopping cart is offered.
Virtuemart would be the best. here is the url http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/129
Would any of these be best suited for what I'm looking for as well? I'd like something which displays information/products similar to an ecommerce layout, and has prices listed, but without the actual shopping cart functionality. Can any of these simply have the cart/checkout disabled?
@Inferno32 - You can run VirtueMart (and several other ecommerce extensions) in "catalog only" mode. But if you don't need a shopping cart, you may wish to look into a CCK where you can have more flexibility over the presentation of the items without a lot of customization. Basically their are lots of E-commerce plugin for Joomla I can suggest you 2 starting with VirtueMart - This one is good if you only want to sell your own product and don't want anyone else to sell on your site except you. second MarketPlace for Joomla - Nice if you want to sell products and stuff along with your members or the community can also function as VirtueMart.
@HavenX - found your comment interesting about using Marketplace for Joomla, a nice classified ad extension, as a "virtuemart". What extension or plugin did you use to get a central checkout for multi-vendor using Marketplace, or did I misunderstand your comment? Thanks!
I have had been running Joomla for a couple of years now. But I tried Virtuemart templates which is the best option for setting up an Ecommerce website.
Virtuemart I think it's too popular but not the best. I love HikaShop and ecdwid. They're simple to use.
