Use hostgator hosting service & inform them that you are going for email marketing. After their confirmation start your bulk email sending job.

In my experience, trying to do mailings from your own server is a mistake.
I have done both and have over 100,000 subscribers using autoresponse plus on a dedicated server, and over 100,000 subscribers in Aweber.

Aweber gets far better deliverability, is less hassle, and it is cheap for all the value you get.

Do you know what throttling is?
Do you know what domain keys is?
Do you know how to get whitelisted on AOL - or even what that is?

If you aren't fully clear on any of these things, you are asking for trouble.

The problems compound if you are on a shared server because other people on the same server can end up getting the entire server, including your account, blacklisted from ISPs like AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail which means your email doesn't get delivered.
Worse - if your server gets blacklisted, you can't even send normal emails to the ISPs that blacklisted you. And it can be very hard to get off a blacklist.

It is NOT as easy as downloading some free software and putting it on a $5/month shared server account. Not if you want people to actually get your emails.

Email deliverability is not something to play around with. And if your project is actually successful, you will be in worse shape because you WILL eventually have to move to a hosted solution.
Virtually every guru I know uses hosted solutions and has migrated off using their own dedicated servers.

    Hope this helps,

Never do mailings from your own server. It's almost a sure fire way to get spam complaints. If you can't afford paying for a service, check out Listwire.com.
