I have a site that receives 350,000+ unique visitors monthly according to Webalizer, and 158,000+ unique visitors monthly according to Awstats. This is not a proxy or image uploading site. All traffic is from search engines and sites linking to us freely, so it's all organic. The question is: Which is more accurate? Webalizer or Awstats? Thanks
Hi, We have to be very careful with this type of question. When comparing statistics tools, you discover that each tool has its own definition for "page", "visitor",... This means that, with two perfectly accurate tools, 1000 visitors according to tool A can be 2000 visitors according to tool B. Now to the point : a problem with Webalizer is that its What's new page stops on April 16, 2002. The situation is different with AWStats. The AWStats robots and browsers lists are continuously adapted to recognize the new robots and browsers. If some robots are not recognized as such, their visits are erronously increasing the number of visitors. On top of that, I prefer the "richer" reports of AWStats. Jean-Luc
I prefer AWStats over Webalizer myself. However, I am testing out Google Analytics but I am not sure that I like it as well as AWStats. Best advice: Test and pick the one you are most comfortable with. Eric
Always AWstats still checking google analytics but no idea about it's quality sofar since i'm new to it
I too am trying out Google Analytics but I still have yet to see what it had over Awstats. Maybe since I'm not using adwords I am "losing some functionality" but I really like AwStats. Maybe someone who has used both AWStats and Google can tell us some of the differences??? But we'll see. The jury is still out. Eric
