Which is better to make money? Blogs, forums or Static websites

    Hi,

I was just wondering which one is better to make money from adsense or CPA affiliate networks. Blog, forum or static websites. Please give me some recommendations because I want to start any one of these by myself.

    Thanks in advance.

Neither, The best way to make money is to offer a service that people can use.

In terms of best way to make money, id go with Forums. This is because forums create a community where people will return, keep posting and attract and reffer other users.
If you host a blog, return users are not that common, except you do benefit from RSS feeds and can advertise in them.

Offering a free service is difficult because it may require a huge budget and management work and most people cannot afford it and i am one of them.:(

Forums are prob the best to get a high traffic website and then you put get adsense on it, but its hard work getting a forum going and keeping it looking active. Blogs are good if its a niche market one and not one that there are already thousands of out there.

What Adam said. Offering a service, especially one where you can charge a subscription fee is the best way to make money.

If you're hell bent on only using Adsense then any high traffic website should be good, though if the site is too absorbing visitors are less likely to click away - I've read that forum regulars don't click on ads so often. And don't forget to choose your niche well, some pay far more than others.

Forums will take a lot of patience, work and time(maybe lots of investment if you want to establish it better)
Try adsense, that's the better way imo considering all the 3 factors. :)

I have also started a forum a few months ago but I was unable to make money from it, so i sold it. It was related to make money online. I think it failed due to it's niche.

Did you earn a good profit then? I mean was it worth starting or you sold it over a loss? I am asking this so that the OP can also try, like starting a forum, bringing in some members and posts, and then selling it at a profit....isn't is good?

I am OP. I sold it for $150. I had given it 8 hours per day for three months and got $150. Now, you can guess whether it is loss or profit. My expenses are also more than $50 in those three months.

No matter what you use .It depends on your skills . One can monetize his/her website, blog etc . But one thing I can say is it difficult to monetize forums as most of members become ad-blind .

Forums can be monetized other ways though as well, such as paid benefits. Not sure some examples of good paid benefits though, depends on your niche.

I'm going to have to say, it all depends on the niche. What kind of website are you planning on creating?

I think that is the wrong question. A house is a house but the size and contents is the key. Read this thread and you will understand

    It depends on time frame.

If you are in a fad niche (ie. movies, games, television, popular culture)

You'll want a blog, something that is easy to update, and get index quickly. Also easy for users to comment (helps add free content to your site). I would place forums in this category as well.

If you are in a ,"time less" niche such as health, finance, food and so on you'll want a static page.

But yea I would agree with the others, web advertising is dieing because a) advertisers are only buying on the SERP page 2) users becoming ad blind, not clicking. 3) so much competition

In the long run, I would say a service business is better where the users actually buy your content/services. Even if you get 1,000 good hits to your site that could translate into a couple hundred dollars if the users buy your service. However, for advertising, 1,000 hits means you'll get 2-3$ if you are lucky. So much better to just find out what the visitors want and give it to them!

I think that you should not open forums because they take so much time and effort. I had also opened a forum a few months ago but then sold it because it was a big problem for me.
