which is better? PPC or banner?

Hi experts,

I would like to engage on some website promotion game and would really appreciate your comments and experience.
My question is:

Among the following, which one would produces more clicking rate to your site:
1- PPC i.e. google adword
2- Banner ie. banner exchange program
3- directory linking (not so famous directory).

Overally, which is the best way to get targetted click?

 

do them all and find your sweet spot. There is no magic program for all sites.

I try to avoid moving/animated banners as much as i can since it annoys me and i beieve my visitors would have the same feelings as well. Please tell me whether i'm right/wrong for my stand...

tthmaz, ya the banners seem to be very annoying and hence wont give out much click through. But does anyone have any idea if it's more worth the money to have banners exchange OR link exchange?

You hit right there!!! AFFILIATE NICHE... I just got my PbP d20 RPG site up a few days ago... and started testing some banner exchanges. One of the exchanges i am on offers 75000 impressions for $5. I came back in a few hours and seen the imp where gone... I was robbed i thought... I went to the site and seen I had 20 new members on the forums, and 2 even posted and are turning out to be really good members.... the LotGD server got 12 new users in a few hours.... I am about to dump $200 in imp... at that place... However, you mileage will very... depending no niche, and banner tricks(new images each run) etc...

in my opinion PPC is best cause ones has to pay for only clicks not for only banner impression.

 

Better and quicker results from ppc, but be prepaired to pay if you are in a competitive niche, and learn everything from DP you can about adwords and ppc.

You can buy banner impressions by the millions these days and pretty cheap. Design a great banner (usually text based work heaps better) and they too are worth the traffic when done corectly and tracked.

PPC is about 100 % better

 

My experience votes for PPC. CPM seems to be somewhat ethereal to me.

 

If you are advertising definetly try PPC as you only pay for performance.
