I'm looking to target a two word keyword, lets say its "Family Guy" Is familyguyhq.com better optimized Or would family-guy.net be my best choice
I think .com is better because it is easier for people to remember. I do not think it effects page rank at all.
IMO familyguyhq.com is best for two reasons: - is a .com (by far better than .net) - Users usually forget the '-' on sitenames, so you'll be sending visitors to "familyguy.net" or "familyguy.com"
Exactly, you can rank both just the same but users typing in your domain will go to the .com first because they are used to always typing in dot com.
I use dash to separate keywords in the URL. I think this could help improving your rankings. But if your site was well optimized with your targeted keywords, it doesn't matter if what URL will you use.
for me,, its .com .. easy to type, and easy to remember...It doesn't really affect on either domain names your SERP's as long as your targeted keywords are in there...
Dashes are no good in IMO because people can mistype your domain easily. Just run the keywords together in the domain. If you are advertising it just make sure to capitalize the first letter in every word. Example: www.TheSiteIsSoMuchBetterThanYour.com
i agree with imnotadoctor, www.Awesome-Videos.com is easier to mistake than say, www.BiggestArcade.com simply because if you leave out the dash in AV than you end up at another site.
