Which is better in a subdirectory, index.html or subject.html?

Which is a better way to go?

I can use Pittsburgh_Photography.html or index.html

Which do you think google values more?

I go the second one, because more shorter. Google like short thing
and.. less sub directories.

 

Google do not give too much importance to file names. Just do what is best for the users of the site. I personally will go with index.html

I'll suggest you to go with index.html.
You should use that for inner page of your site.

 

My site is about photography. Would I be better off putting all my articles in the root dir, or should I make sub dirs for catagories like portrait photography, wedding photography, sports photography, food photography...?

 

I always go with index.html.

I would suggest you to make subject related category and then put all the articles. Don't mess up your root.

 

if you asking I prefer index also .. it's common .. but if you want experimenting I suggest you try the the other option

Index.html is batter for my advice. compare to subject.html
