I have been using the <b> bold tag to highlight sub-headings on my articles. Recently, I started using <h3> tag because I wanted the headings to be a little larger than the text. Now I wonder how google will see this. When I was using <b> I was emphasizing the included text. Now when I use <h3>, am I de-emphasizing the content since the article heading is within <h2> tags? What is priority level of the <h3> tag compared to <b>? As much as I'm aware, the <h1> is reserved for the title of the website, and <h2> can be used for article title and other places. Where does <h3> stand? Any thoughts?
do a simple experiment. take some really long tail word. make 2 blogspot blogs on different urls. on one put that word in bold and on the other put that word on H3. Link it to the respective blog.Ping blog. After 2 weeks search that word.
dont worry about these things too much pal.concentrate on your link building.it will do more good than these things. But i feel b is better than header tag.
You have to remember about the hierarchy. If you use <h3> you automatically need to have a <h2> - this is how you show Google the structure of your page. You are not advised to skip <h2> <h1> = page heading <h2> = section heading <h3> = sub-section heading Although, <h2> and <h3> will not make a lot of difference for your SEO score, it can potentially help you. For example, if your competitor has a similar site with similar amount of incoming links but his structure is a mess, you will out-rank him by correctly using heading tags. <b> is meant to highlight a part of body text. It doesn't make much sense using it for headings. That's why you have CSS at your convenience - make you <h3> a point or two bigger than the body text or leave it in the same size and just make it bold using the style-sheet.
Use it the way its suppose to be used, google will only get better at detecting natural webpages, try not to use it just to make the search engine think its better as google is becoming more anti seo.
Use H3 for the sub-heading, and in your text, if it is relevant you will find your desired keyword. Put that keyword in B . You will have used both the way they are suppose to be used.
