I'd have to agree, Wordpress. Not only is it better for SEO, it's easier to customize and set up the site.

Really guys? As far as I know wordpress has in standard do not follow links. Joomla may be good to make some rss-feeder and other stuff that enables you to make huge amount of sites for exchange link systems.

"wordpress has in standard do not follow links"

Yes,this is correct. Is there some sort of benefit to passing your page rank to other sites? Nope...

If you know all features of Joomla, you will see that is very good! Wordpress is also good but not better.

i would say Wordpress or joomla doesnt matter if you are having unique and informative content. Because you can customize both wordpress or joomla according to our needs( seo).

If your question was which is easy to customize ( Wordpress or joomla) i would certainly say with out any doubt that it is none other than WORDPRESS

The question was "which is better for SEO?" not which one is easier to use.

None of them is very SEO friendly out-of-the-box, so you have to optimize them both.
That's why everyone is changing permalinks, using all-in-one-SEO plugin ...etc in WP
    Same with Joomla.

Big advantage of WP is huge community and tons of free resources

true with the older version but Joomla 1.5 has good built in SEO options and the plugins i've used to add homepage option to title or derive auto meta tags from the content (lazy way i know) are all free. the learning curve for joomla is steep and the concept of organization is odd but i've finally mastered it after several weeks. i haven't bought a single plugin... yet. i can't vote since i've never used wordpress, btw but will be trying it soon.
