depend on the pr...for example, if the page you are commenting has pr2 but you only comment in 1 page,,and compare when you post 7 threads on the forum, but all of them are n/a...
i think it will be better to comment than post a thread,,,

    maybe can help

Forum postings is going to get you more traffic (assuming you stick to your niche). Blog commenting will only get owners to visit your site once in a while.

I would do both and use them for different reasons. Forum posting for referral traffic, blog posts for backlinks.

both are good as long as they maintain in the niche--- thats an easy thing to say . But assuming they are both relevent forum posts will get you higher conversation rates at lower traffic as blog posts will get you higher traffic with less conversion-- but this is also assuming both websites are equal in all variables

for a travel website you could make forum posts discussing your travel deals and destinations. This could give you very good targeted traffic. then you could find blogs where people talk about their vacation, you could post comments talking about good deals on a trip you took, linking to your travel site. hope that gives you some ideas.

I stand for forum posting. However, it's better to do both coz each has different advantages and disadvantages.

I consider two of them are very useful tools, but at the same time i believe that it also depends on theme and content of your site! As was said before two of them have various advantages and disadvantages

It depend on the PR and niche. If both of them are same PR (i'm talking the inner page PR) and same niche, then the effect is same.

As mentioned you need to do both, but I think it will be harder in your case to find forums about travel in adverse to blogs, of course this is a field that I am not in. If your niche is travel I think the hits you get from blogs would be better because of the fan base will actually go to your site and you would get a better conversion rate.

Its all depend upon the quality and quantity of sites you are submitting your site. And both the forums and commenting on blogs is the important one to build the backlinks.

Do both simultaneously rather if you want to compare between forum and blog commenting "My personal opinion is blog commenting."

forums are best...but blog commenting can leverage some benefit as well..provided that it is dofollow and if commentluv is enabled....then it can also compete with forum posting....my two cents :)

blogs are better way than forum posting.. to get more backlinks.. but you need to make sure that blog is do-follow otherwise you will be wasting your time.

i think comment posting on dofollow sites are much more worthy than forum posting! as most of the times you dont have to register.

I think it goes this way:

Forum posting and blog commenting produce the same result which is traffic. While forum registration with the url of your site or blog in the profile in the forum is a way to improve PR value which means inbound links. The former is for traffic which is considerably low percentile organic while the latter will provide in the long run organic visitor due to PR value it add to ur site/blog which converts to organic visitors from search engine. Well I guess both the latter and former both result to traffic, the only difference is the long term effect.

I'm a big believer of forum posts, if you are established. Especially if you have good things to add and you are genuinely being helpful, more people will be much more likely to check you out and what you have to offer.

Blog comments aren't read as often, but they're easier to access and easier to post.

There's also the question of do-follow and no-follow. I'd actually say go for both. Comment on high ranking blogs and don't leave out posting helpful information on forums with a link signature :). But the right forum can make you bank SO damn hard.
