To generate quality backlinks which is better - social bookmarking, directory submissions, article submissions, commenting on other related topic sites or any thing else that u know which seems to work better. :)

    All of them are great!

I personally use articles and article submissions. I have generated lots of quality backlinks and am on the rise to the first page in Google for my keywords.

A quality mixed combination of all that you have mentioned in addition to getting one way text links from related topics
Of course one cannot discount the requirement of on page optimisation which in my opinion is the most important SEO factor, even more important that off page optimisation

I think Blog Commenting and Social Bookmarking stands first among all, it really boost traffic. However Article Submission, Press Release, Forum Posting can be managed, depends on the time you would like to spend on performing each.
