Which is better? Branding or Exact match domains for seo?

    Hey guys,

I am having a hard time understanding something.

Which is better for SEO and SERP,

creating a domain lets say that targets 5 different keywords, but has no keyword match in the domain

    or

creating 5 different domains that target one keyword only but have exact matches?

Domains would be either, .com .org .net .us or .biz

So extension is not really an issue.

    Thanks in advance!!

Keyword in domain is always better for SEO. Branding is better is you are building a huge site that you want people to remember it. You can have 5 different domains, but they should all have unique content, be marketed separately, and not be interlinked to pass page rank. I would start with one domain and expand once it is successful.

Branding is more important for a site that will have a wide appeal. Exact match is better SEO for targeted niches.

Whilst I accept that keyword domains have an advantage from an seo perspective I and many others can be put off by long keyword domains. If I arrive on a site like www.lowcostcheapbedsuk.co.uk i'm not likely to buy! its just looks spammy.

I think a compromise between the two is ideal.. try to find a domain that include one of your keywords and use to come up with a good brand name

    foxhead is right also.

Exact match might be good for: "PokerstarsBonusCode.com"

    But not for: "HowToGetFreePepsiPoints.com"

So it kinda depends on the keywords you are going after.

A good SEO advice is that the keyword should be inside the domain name. But branding is better to focus on variety of niches.

if u dont have keyword in domain ur site will take ages to beat those forums and websites which have already posted stuff similiar to what u have in ur site coz ur site is new. if u wana beat this have a domain similiar to ur keywords which can beat the above and will result good.

    DOMAIN KEYWORDS for sure.
It would be easier to get to the top list of SERP if you have a good keywords within your domain name
