Which is better? A one page sales letter website or a full website?

    Hi,

I'm almost ready to start selling a PHP script that I've had in the works, but I'm a bit confused now..

Which type of site should I create to sell this particular product? A one page sales letter type of site? or a full site with a navigation menu and everything else?

A one page sales letter site would be much easier to manage and update compared to a full website, but I'm guessing most people would find a full website to be more professional. However, I could always add a navigation menu to a one page sales letter site that would take visitors to different parts ot he page, whether it be the intro, features section, or the contact details sections. Well.. to be honest, I have no idea.

    What do you think?

If it helps, I'm going to be selling a PHP script that will automate digital product sales. I know it might be nothing new, but it has a few features that set it apart from other similar scripts.

    Thanks in advance :)

I would go with a full website. Those seem to rank better in the search results. Also, if you ever want to advertise with pay per click, it will be cheaper.

I would simply break down your one page site into smaller pages. Most internet users scan pages anyways. Shorter pages work well with their attention spans.

I think the web is so young and user behavior is so poorly understood, the correct answer is both :) I see top marketers saying "test, test, test". In other words, they don't know what works and what doesn't either.

If your site is ONLY about selling 1 thing make a salesletter. A website has too many options that you don't need.

I would say a sales page... it's what I use.

On the owners page just put a link to every other product and content site (like a blog) you have. You will get people eventually coming into your main site even if they first stumble on and purchase the product on it's own page.

Love it or hate it... they are still effective at selling products. :)
