I am getting conflicting information about which are best types of links. Social media bookmarks or directories with PR of 3+. What is everyones view on this?
Directory with PR3-PR4-PR5-PR7-PR8 Insert your url on all this FREE website: digg.com PR8 technorati.com PR8 TIP: Blogger and Blog Addict LOVES Technorati! stumbleupon.com PR8 squidoo.com PR7 TIP: Google LOVES Squidoo! propeller.com PR7 articlesfactory.com PR7 ezinearticles.com PR6 goarticles.com PR6 articlecity.com PR6 articledashboard.com PR6 searchwarp.com PR5 articlealley.com PR5 a1articles.com PR5 content-articles.com PR4 article-hut.com PR4 articleconnection.com PR3 usfreeads.com PR5 Good Luck!
I may be wrong, but social bookmarking as lost SEO juice since they are almost all nofollow now. They, however, give more traffic then a directories link.
Camay123 is correct. Social bookmarking has little to none link value, it is all about traffic and connecting with other people of similar interests. Hence the word 'social'. Directories can help, but a vast majority of them have been mostly discounted. Exceptions being DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, JoeAnt (maybe), etc. The directory has had to have some known authoritative worth. Diversify though. Even the Yellow Pages, which has 'scripted' website links, garner quite a bit of traffic. I have seen this in stats for a commercial roofing outfit. Moral is, get your link in high traffic areas and optimize for local search if applicable (whether the link is scripted or nofollow). Don't count on the SE's for all of your traffic.
Yep.. the more places that display your link.. the more traffic you will receive. Its not always about search engines. That is why I wear shirts with my domain name on it.. and have branded my truck with my address.
A link on a page with relevant content with your site is a GREAT LINK if that page is on a PR site then that is a BONUS Social Media Bookmarking sites tend to have good HOMEPAGE PR but your links will appear mostly on pages with NO PR Same might be true of your directory links Thus stop thinking about PR but relevance of your links ...
Digg is my favorite. If your story hit the homepage it will get PR on the next PageRank update Not to mention that Digg stories rank pretty well in Google.
Are you talking about PR of the page at Digg? If so, how does that help you? If you are talking about it boosting your PR, then that is ludicrous.
Popular social bookmark links will get PR to the page being linked. Heck, I have a few profiles on social bookmarking sites that have PR 4.
That may be true. What people do not understand is that you need to get backlinks to those profile pages in order to raise the PR. In other words, you have to promote the social website in order to get your backlink. How insane is that? If you just create a profile, drop your link, and walk away -- what do you get? A worthless backlink that tens of thousands of other people have. People think that all of these profile pages are a magical, get link rich quick scheme. And they are not.
