I suggest Magento and Presta Shop. They have lot of options for a shop.

I have set-up magento before it is a bit of a beast and you need to know what your doing with php... I struggled!

Anyone tried shopify? Seems to be fairly cheap hosted model and some big e-com shops seem to be using it.

I'm dealing with digital items and for me Avangate is the best solution. It took me 2 minutes to integrate their gateway and shopping cart into my site and it was a good workaround for my paypal problems (paypal closed my account but with Avangate I can accept paypal payments)

the thing to keep in mind is you want a solution that you can grow with - something that has plenty of 3rd party products or plugins and a large community. wordpress and magento are the two I use exclusively because their both userfriendly, have plentiful 3rd party products and help isn't far away.

ZenCart is one of the best software shopping cart e-commerce, in addition to the tutorials are free and plentiful. It is easy to learn and very manageable.

The open source (free) version of Magento is not PCI compliant. I bet many people will eventually switch to a hosted solution like Magento Go. I am currently switching all my sites from Magento to Big Commerce.

OsCommerce hands down! It is the most popular e-commerce script and for a reason. You can also find plenty of templates and mods for OsCommerce.

This website has many problems. Demo link returns a 404. Link to manuals returns to itself. Tried their facebook page also. They have blocked the ability to comment after reports of the demo 404 problem. Not a product I will be trying anytime soon.

If you want to shop batteries for laptop, computer, digital cameras etc then Batteriesdirect is best. It is a batteries superstore for all brands like Energizer, GE, Vtech, Uniden, Sony, Panasonic.
