    I'd say bbPress is the best - it's very lightweight, pretty advanced and my favorite thing is that it's fully integrated with WordPress. However, when choosing a forum platform you have to carefully consider your needs and resources. Even better read some reviews, comparisons, etc. Here is an article that I think is quite good. It compares a number of different solutions and gives a brief description of each. If you are looking for a platform, definitely worth reading.
