I use Corel Draw Graphics Suite and the results are great, but Illustrator is another option.

ps : These two programs are for vector logos.

To my surprise Laughingbird Software was already mentioned, but I wanted to put in my two cents, because I have been using Laughingbird Software for quite some time now and it's what I use to come up with my own unique logos and graphic headers.

For a very simple to use platform it also has a lot of purpose and functionality.

If you know how to use photoshop then do, its the best. If you want an easy to use logo creator, I use AAA. Its really easy and comes with a lot of cool features. An 8 year old could use it.

    Hello everyone!

I'm a webdesigner and a logo designer and I'm very suprised with all the answers in this post.
First of all logo - if you want to build anything serious basing on it - MUST BE VECTOR GRAPHICS.

So... using photoshop is not the best idea - Illustrator... yes.

I use Corel Draw for my logo design and I have to say that you must have a powerful vector software like this to do anything serious - you must be able to create smooth curves, you must be able to simplify your drawings easily - you must be able to enlarge and decrease your images as you go on.

So I would recommend Corel Draw - easy to learn.
Also - Google - Logo Inspiration Gallery - you will find great places to get your logo inspiration.
