Which is a better backlink?

Which is a better backlink, from a site with higher PR or a site relevant to your site?

Why?

 

A site relevant to your website's theme is a better backlink anyday. However, a high page rank page might get your website deep-crawled or frequently crawled but it wont be a ranking factor.

It all depends have to take into consideration where the higher PR link is coming from.. If there is some relevancy to your site I would take the higher PR.

Of course relevant site,...... Much better if you link to a relevant site with high PR.

 

so directory submissions are not incredibly valuable?

 

If submitted to the right category a link obtained from a directory will still be relevant.
