I started with banners and signatures for my characters. It was an evolving process I would take pictures and then cut, crop and do all kinds of stuff to it. That is how I started... well I started in PAINT and then progressed to photoshop. I would do things like this: Then later I saved money and bought a tablet (4 years ago) and then started my journey in digital art. My first digital art piece coloured in photoshop was this: Then a month or so later I followed a few tutorials and then did this: and now my time is spent either doodling or doing proper digital art: I was self-taught though. It helps to be a natural artist because you know what you want out of your pictures/art. It's just a matter of finding a way to do it in Adobe. The first thing back in the day I played with was layers actually. It fascinated me. Only after I was comfortable with some tools in Adobe and layers, did I start to view a few tutorials. After that most stuff is self explanatory.
Hay you can search in google there are a lot of tutorials from which you can learn photoshop. Cheers.
