Which Indian bank provides a credit card facility ?

    Hi Folks,

I want to know whether which banks provides a International Credit Card [ CC ] facility with minimum balance of Rs 5000/- only. I mean the balance that we should maintain should be around Rs 5000/- only.

I have heard that almost all the banks gives credit cards if we apply, but they tell us to maintain about Rs 50000/- in our account. And I can't afford that much.

So, I want to know if any bank provides credit cards with less maintaining balance.

    Thanks.

As far as my knowledge no banks provide CC with minimum 5000 Rs. balance. Axis bank provides CC with minimum balance of 25000 to 30000 IMO. Check it out.

Axis bank provides one if you have a fixed deposit of Rs. 25000/-. But still confirm it with them. The rates may have changed now.

I am using HDFC Bank and it provides the credit card facility for minimum balance 25000 for only Current account holders.

Your age too matters in this case, if you are less than 21 than you can't apply for credit card unless you have a current account of your guardian/parent .

    Thanks

ICICI, HDFC and BOI provides CC on FD of 20K or more. 85% of FD is your credit limit.

Well if you want credit card instantly then you need to have good balance in your account which will depend from bank to bank ranging from 25k to 1 lac. But if you cant afford that much then you can maintain your account for 3 months and then can apply for credit card. You need to be frequent in transactions and should maintain their minimum balance for 3 months, then bank sends an auto approval for your account to credit card department.

    Thanks

when i opened account in hdfc bank last year and asked for CC, they told me that i should be a customer for 6 months and they will issue one. Just asked me to maintain 10k as minimum balance. Finally, they gave me a gold credit card with 20k limit. The trick is once you get your first cc, then easily you can get more credit cards from other banks.

I do not understand where this minimum balance thing is coming from. I have a zero balance account with HDFC since many years and I have also been issued a credit card, free of charge with none conditions attached! :)

Maybe just because of your transactions history (heavy transactions).

Most of the well known banks in India issue credit cards. Check with the banks what are the requirements to get a credit card. They mostly look for a well maintained account, regular transactions and if you have an FD it should be easier to get approved. AFAIK, if you have an FD with Axis bank they offer a secured credit card and I think other banks might have similar offers.
