I've used Dreamweaver for about 7 or 8 years and it's my #1 weapon of choice. Frontpage just makes me cringe, textpad, notepad, coffecup, notepad++ are OK if you like to work hard and NVU is alright as a backup pacakge. But if you're going to go pro and utilise all the workflow tools etc then you can't get better than Dreamweaver.
I have used Dreamweaver for several years, but lately I have started to study Wordpress. You don't have to know anything about html, and it is very easy to keep your pages updated. Rolf
Good point, just make sure you keep up with the plugins (for seo, permalink structure, robots, sitemaps, etc.) Also, don't forget to add your alt tags, h2, h3, h4,.....
Wordpress, lol. I don't build a whole lot of pages, but I do build the occasional landing page in Dreamweaver CS3.
I use notepad++ for all my coding. It's simplistic and pleasant to use just like notepad but with syntax enhancements. I love it
I do my xHTML/PHP/CSS/XML/Javscript/and AJAX with Dreamweaver CS3. Mentioning NVU, is an open source software product, from what Leo Laporte has said is an excellent piece of software if you cannot afford the CS3. My opinion is, that althought Dreamweaver may cost a bit, it is the ultimate swiss army knife with web production, as it has everything to build a website.
**This is why Adobe will never be touched re mass appeal - and why most of us love it - all in one and a never ending add on tray... From Am'er, to producer, to designer, to developer, to programmer, to hobby guy, to 'no clue how to html' manually, to rich media guru, to 'pump out 10 sites a day', to my step dad who is a foreign polish man with little english, to most highschool kids... Many have tried, but even MicroSoft has nothing on Adobe, and prob never will (though I still love the name MacroMedia << Just sounds hot). N.
