Which hosting to choose

    Hi all,

I am about to go for a shared hosting account but was wondering if I could get some suggestions from pros and experienced people here at DP.

I am already "very" happy with HostMonster but if you guys have any "good reasons" to make me switch from my current host, please let me know.

I'm shortlisting 4 hosting providers to make things easy:

    1. HostMonster
    2. HostGator
    3. GoDaddy
    4. 50Webs

Request: Please only give suggestions on above-mentioned 4 companies. However, your personal experience with any of these hosts would be precious to share.

My site requirements are simple. I normally have few WordPress blogs and static (sometimes semi-static) websites, nothing hi-fi or advance.

Looking forward for some real help.

    Thanks for your time.

For domain names, I use and like ipower and godaddy.

For server hosting, I like Site5. Good deal and they've done right by us so far.

Given your list of four hosts I recommend HostGator followed by HostMonster. I too have been with Hostgator for about 3 years now with no problems.

Many people say that Godaddy is good for domains, but not for hosting. As for Hostmonster, it is a Bluehost company, and I'm with Bluehost already for more than 2 years with no problems. So I would stay with Hostmosnter if you are satisfied with them.

well, for hosting its HostGator as you get unlimited bandwidth which will help you, more bandwidth = more site visits possible.
For the domain try GoDaddy or NameCheap.

Thanks for all the suggestions mates. However, I am not "convinced" to switch from my current hosting yet, so you all should do better than that; hehehe.

Anyways, I've received few PMs and I would like to mention it "again". Please, only suggest from the four hosting providers I've pointed in my thread.

@Lolakutty: I don't think four months are enough to evaluate the performance, however, thanks and hope it works for you.

If you need good support that can solve most of reported issues in a single day, then I'd recommend aSmallOrange.com

If you are a techie and don't need support often, then your list seems ok.
