Hello buddies, I am totally new to web hosting. I am looking for a web hosting company that provides a decent deal at reasonable price. I am looking for a host that provides, nice support and speed for a site with good traffic. I am not looking for unlimited disk space and domains. Limitation on domains are acceptable but what should be the amount of Bandwith to meet monthly needs for a blog/website with 1 to 2k unique visits per day with images and etc on it. I would feel good with unlimited bandwith. But, I dodnot want to compromise service so, limited but enough bandwith will be required. I was planning to go with, godaddy or 1and1. Please, post your opinions, especially experience with me.
Many webmasters say that Godaddy is good for domains, but not for hosting. For hosting I would recommend you Hostgator, Bluehost or Hostmonster. I host my sites with Hostgator and Bluehost and have not had any problems so far.
Thanxs andrej, I am affraid of there unlimited plans. Can you tell me the amount of traffic per day to your sites that are hosted over there. Moreover: can I host scripts like, youtube downloader, facebook apps, image host. Anyone that allows especially youtube related app, or apps that are made by scrapping other sites. regards, aqif
My site hosted with Bluehost receives about 200 unique visits daily (that's my site that receives the most traffic from all my sites). As for the Youtube and Facebook apps, I'm not sure if you can host them.
But yeah I don't think the standard web hosts would be applicable for Facebook apps and stuff, but really this is a hard question to answer because there are so many web hosts out there and they all have their pros and cons if you're taking the pricing into consideration. The important thing to know is that you do not take the Diskspace and Bandwidth limits into consideration when choosing a host. There is no such thing as "Unlimited Diskspace" or "Unlimited Bandwidth". This is a marketing gimmick used by the bigger companies to stay ahead of the game. Even if you see sites that offer 300GB (disk space) and 3000GB (bandwidth), if you're paying less than $10 a month you will probably get shutdown after accumulating about 25GB of disk space or if you're using up too much resources on the servers. The TOS of these web hosts will explain it all. Anyways, I'd say people should just be classifying hosts into 3 separate classes. Shared Hosting, VPS Hosting, Dedicated Hosting. From there choose how big you think your site is going to be and how much you're willing to pay. I'd recommend Fatcow.com if you're looking for a Shared Host
samie, Do you have any experience with fatcow? I am thinking of registering my domain with goDaddy.com
i am hosted in http://unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk/ Unlimited Space/Badwith and unlimited addon domains all is unlimited There i have 5 Sites hosted in this company is really good , with 5 sites i have about 2K-4K Visits per Day Support 24/7 and 99.99 Uptime i have experience there about 5-6 Month
Yes a lot of experience actually. That's where a couple of my sites are hosted. They are a shared web host though. I've worked for and hosted with a lot of different hosting companies, but I've never used Godaddy before I tried signing up a domain once just to see what it was like but I got so annoyed with their entire site lol Even they're advertisements on TV bug me for some reason.
go to bluehost - ulimited domain, space, bandwidth - only 84$ (1 domain free, domain privacy and sitelock security included within that 84$)... good seo...
if you are new to hosting and tech stuff, than I would say go with a host who can help you as much you need, instead going with big companies who usually may not help with you way small small things which you may need from someone to help you to setup site
Nothing wrong with using GoDaddy for domains/misc services, but I would shy away from using them for core hosting services (web hosting, dedicated servers, etc).
I would go with a managed company so they can help you since your new to hosting. That way if you have a problem that you cant fix yourself they are there to help.
lol, nice sales pitch squinx22. I wouldn't recommend advertising 100% uptime (especially on your site). Can cause more frustrated customers when issues actually occur. Web Hosting is very competitive to get into.
Hi, I use HostGator and have had no problem at all with them. For domains, I buy mostly from NameCheap.
Well I believe that you need to use reputable and time-tested hosting for your demands to be assured in your website stability and performance. From the personal experience I suggest Hostome.com services to use which are perfectly fit your demands with their shared hosting plans
I believe that the host you are going to use will meet your expectation, but still recommend you to make a kind of comparison research and check more options. Try to contact them directly and ask for any discounts.
hostgator is good but some things are hidden in host gator that may get u pissed at them for support and good service i must say Arvixe they are the best host i have been with
