Any host with PHP support would do. However if you are expecting a lot of visitors (You are already an established local brand and want to come online) then you need to get a VPS or if you are a bit more established like in 10 or more cities get a dedicated server

You can also try esited.com. Their specs are flexible enough that I was able to launch a website using wordpress-buddypress tandem for my social network-webtv channel site that streams video, www.piyesta.com. And yes I am just using their shared hosting for about 4.95 dollars a month.

Though it offers no chat support for tech related questions but their ticket support is efficient enough that your questions are immediately answered just within few minutes.

I have my own web hosting company (below) but yes, if I wasn't hosting my own stuff, I would go with Hostgator. They really do set the bar high in web hosting flexibility. :)

Google for ratings and reviews about hosting providers. There are a lot of good hosting providers but with different prices, admin interfaces, support service and uptime. I prefer that hosting which has CPanel because it's easy to use than Plesk, 24/7 support service, minimum 90% up time and of course the price. I don't believe to the offers with "unlimited bandwidth or disk space" because there is nothing unlimited in the world.

I use Bluehost and I'm happy with it. Hostgator would be my other choice.

I use the hosting company in my sig and I have been very satisfied with them. Especially with an ecommerce company, having unlimited bandwidth at a very low price is ideal for cutting down on your expenses.

well just don't google for ecommerce hosting most of them is just a lie... any hosting company can support ecommerce but the question is whether a shared account is enough for your ecommerce activity, how big is your project ? If you have a really big project you should have your own server because that way your site would be fast and secure... ThePlanet is one of the best server provides and you can get a good one for about $200 - $300 really good..

hosting offer should be cheap and good services like website load timing should be fast when our website have been seen lot of users. some hosting company fail when some traffics touch your website. i got good hosting services with cheapest aslo. Godaddy's services are good but that's hostings are very costly i thinks.

speaking from the UK here but NuBlue is AMAZING. One-click installation for magento - and I cannot praise the support enough - amazing people.

I have a VPS with them with around 10 or so e-commerce sites with them. All for a very good price 100% recommended.
