You might check out PowerVPS if a virtual private server is in your future. I was with ASO at the beginning of the year. The customer service was great but there were glitches and downtime. I've had none of those problems and equal or better customer service with PowerVPS.

I've been with DreamHost since Jan '05, and up until this month I'd have said I was really happy with them, but now I am finding them slow to respond, generally unhelpful, and potentially compromised.

To their credit, though, they've kept me up through 2 slashdottings and a slam from Good Morning America; the last happening while my hosted email account has been zombied by an evil Hax0r.

 

I hear ya on the /dot thing and "Good Morning America". We've got a client whose spokesperson is Terry Hatcher from "Desparate House Wives". She pumped the site on the red carpet at the Emmy's, Letterman, Leno, all the day time news shows, you name it... There was like 2 solid weeks of massive bw overflow here. But we lumbered through just fine. We have another client that got Farked pretty bad, to the tune of 50,000 visitors (according to fark) in a 18 hour period. INSANE.

If they are reliable, that may outway the need for constant support and visa versa. It is impossible to keep everyone happy all of the time, though many of us sure do try

Good rates, the best customer service I've seen in a host. I've been down a total of about 1 hour since I started using them almost a year ago, so I'm happy
